Awesome experience today with The Firearms Academy here in Brownsville,Tx. We took the basic firearms course and the program helped me understand all the basics of Firearms. I took this course with my son and daughter to help them have a better understanding of guns and gun safety. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a basic gun course or for self protection.

That workshop was great! It was incredibly thorough, giving us a good understanding of every part of the gun. Plus, the safety standards were well-explained. The instructors were both funny and nice. I do recommend .

What a great experience. Anybody that is interested and serious about either carrying a firearm for safety or simply learning basic etiquette and handling, this is the place to go in Brownsville. The licensed instructors, Emmanuel and Martha Galvan, were very welcoming and guided me through the learning course section by section. I will be honest, I was afraid at the beginning since I grew up with a somewhat negative view on guns, however, I remembered I had come here to learn about self defense to protect myself best from situations where being a woman can be seen as being a vulnerable target. As I familiarized myself with gun anatomy, safety, handling, etc, I quickly gathered confedence and control with a couple of firearms. I'm extremely proud of myself as I also earned my certificate and will be going back to complete more courses. Thank you, Manny and Martha for prioritizing firearm knowledge, safety and as always self defense.

I attended the Basic Pistol course yesterday, and found it very beneficial. I’m an experienced shooter and military veteran, yet I learned some new things about pistols and ammunition that I was not aware of. The class was structured with high quality visual and printed materials, an the short breaks were strategically placed to keep the pace agreeable over the Saturday that we spent together. During the portions dedicated to practical application (shooting stance, aiming, loading & unloading, etc.) the facilitators were attentive regarding the pointing out of proper technique, and made for a positive experience. Overall, even those with absolutely zero pistol handling experience can feel confident in taking this course, and without fear of judgment. Manny and Martha will ensure that participants abide by the highest safety measures at all times. The course began with careful demonstration and supervision of students handling weapons and ammunition correctly, and ultimately, the training session ended having spent some time putting it all together on the range. Overall, you couldn’t ask for a better set of teachers. They are passionate about teaching not only firearm safety and self-defense to students, but also empower them through separate martial arts programs. Give their academy a try, I’m confident that you’ll gain a lot of knowledge! I’m excited about future training, and plan on attending the second and third phases of the pistol program later this year.

This is my first time taking any kind of firearms training, staff is super qualified and friendly, made everything super easy to understand even when I had no knowledge, if you have the itch to seek firearm training this is the place! UPDATE! Just finished my second training with The Firearms Academy, Basical Personal Protection in the House, super easy to understand since I took the first course with them, Basic Pistol Training, the instructors explain everything super clear and easy to understand, even if you are new into firearms like me, come and check them out if you are interested in learning about safety and handling firearms! Highly recommend!

It was my first time taking a session such as this one, and I'm so glad I did. This training helped me get out of my comfort zone to be able to protect myself and my own. I learned how to de-escalate confrontations using self defense techniques, and how to properly handle a weapon for emergency use. The Instructor was knowledgeable, and answered all our questions. His lesson was very clear, interesting, informative, and engaging. I look forward to the next session. Thank you for bringing this to our community.

I recently participated in a self-defense class. This class was beyond my expectation. From basic self-defense to defending myself when a knife/gun are involved to learning how to handle a knife/gun. Excellent and Highly recommended!!
